Muslim holidays integrated in school calendar

Montgomery County, is the largest school district in Maryland with 156,000 students. Now those students will be subject to Islamic holidays.

According to WTOP, the Montgomery County Public School system has decided to accommodate families who celebrate the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha by closing school for students on Sept. 12 of 2016.

This decision was made after years of debate on how to diversify and accommodate Muslim families demands to implement their holidays into the school calendar.

The day may be used as an in-service day for teachers but that has not been set in concrete.

Many school districts across America are seeking to place all other religious holidays on calendars in an attempt to diversify for students.
