Russia Defense Ministry: US Not Attacking Islamic State In Syria

MOSCOW – The Russian Defense Ministry has responded to recent criticisms by NATO regarding its campaign against Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) in Syria, stating that Washington seems to be the one with accuracy problems, Al-Alam reports.

“The American and other air forces have been carrying out strikes for a year already, but we have grounds to believe that they have not always… been striking terrorist targets,” Sputnik quoted Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov as saying on Wednesday.

During a press conference on Tuesday, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg voiced concerns that Russia may not be targeting Daesh Takfiri positions, “but instead attacking the Syrian opposition and civilians.”
