Turkish immigrant arrested after 3 died of gunshot wounds in the Netherlands

Three people are confirmed dead and five injured after firing several shots on a tram in the city.

Gökmen Tanis has been arrested after shooting in Utrecht in the Netherlands. Suspects is be well known by the police.

That was informed by the police during a press conference at 18 Monday night.

The 37-year-old was born in Turkey.

The 37-year-old was arrested in a residence in Oudenoord in Utrecht. The street is about two kilometers away. The police acted against several addresses in the afternoon.

Tanis is suspected of killing with terror as a motive. Sources say to Algemeen Dagblad that honor killings are most likely the motive, but this is not confirmed.

News agency Anadolu Agency reports that suspects shot a family member. The shooting is due to a family matter, does not mention named relatives of the news agency.

-This is an attack on our rule of law, our liberal society, the tolerant Netherlands. Our rule of law and democracy are stronger than fanaticism and violence, said Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte during a press conference on Monday afternoon.
